Jane and her husband Denis, a self-employed carpenter, are proud parents to three talented trampolinists, all of which compete at very high levels. Jane’s eldest daughter Kate, 14, began trampolining when she was just eight years old, and has now gone on to represent England on numerous occasions, recently taking home a bronze medal for England at Fliffis and a silver medal for the GB Under 15’s team in the Youth International in Germany. Kate also achieved a fourth place finish individually and a first place finish with her partner Megan in the synchronised section of a trampolining competition in Loule.
Unfortunately, having been tipped for glory in November 2009 at the World Age Games in Russia, Kate fell, and her partner Megan, having led the competition from the first round, suffered the same fate in 2010 at the European Championships in Bulgaria whilst representing GB. Kate is now looking to be picked for the World Age Games 2010 in both synchro and individual. Kate has also been picked as part of the England 2010 squad.
Kate also enjoys Team Gym and following an impressive win in the National Finals with her team last year, is looking forward to competing for GB at the European Championships in Malmo, Sweden in October, along with her sister Elizabeth, 12.
Elizabeth has qualified at a National C level for 2010 and has had an average season, with no finals appearance but without any notable negative points. Elizabeth’s trampolining career was put in doubt a few years ago, following an incident that left her with a broken arm. After this tragedy, Elizabeth was forced to overcome a lot of fears to get back into the sport, and is now progressing again.
Jane’s youngest daughter, Sarah, 10, also does Team Gym and has qualified to compete at Regional D level, which is the highest level of regional competition. Sarah is determined to compete at National C level next year for Edgbarrow and follow in the footsteps of her two sisters. Sarah qualified to compete in a competition in the Isle of Wight in June 2010 and only arrived in London, from an Italian gymnastics camp she attended, at 2:00am that morning, leaving her only a few hours to sleep in the car before competing at 10:30am, but she still managed to achieve qualification for D by lunch time.
